2019 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid for sale in Hawthorne
Midsize sedans used to be the segment where manufacturers had to be at their best to succeed as the competition was so fierce. Although buyers are increasingly looking to SUVs these days, the quality of midsize sedans is as high as ever as they have to fight even harder now to tempt potential buyers. The Lincoln MKZ is a contender at the luxury end of the spectrum, so let's take a closer look at the 2019 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid to see just how good it is.
As soon as the Lincoln MKZ comes into view there's no doubting this is a luxury model. It has quite a sleek profile and genuine presence from every angle. There's a hint of the Lincoln Continental at the front with the imposing rectangular grille, and there's an almost coupe-like rear roofline that looks as though it could be a hatch, but is actually a conventional trunk. This is a car that looks good in all its available colors, but it's especially attractive in some of the less conventional red and blues Lincoln offers this luxury ride in.
Until they become more commonplace, the main talking point of any hybrid will inevitably be that gas/electric powerplant. In the latest new Lincoln MKZ lineup the hybrid is actually the entry point to the range and not the most expensive option, as hybrids can often be with rival models. What we have here then is a 2.0-liter inline-four gas engine mated to a pair of electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. The combined power rating of the system is a relatively modest 188 horsepower, but the inclusion of electric motors means a good portion of that power is delivered very quickly. It means the 2019 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid accelerates very well indeed around the town or in the city. The only potential drawback with the system is it's not available with all-wheel drive, but that's unlikely to bother too many buyers considering a hybrid anyway.
The interior of the car is definitely comfortable, but to get the full-blown true luxury feel does require stepping up a level or two from the entry model. But the good news is the hybrid powertrain is available in all the trim levels the combustion engine-only models come in of Base/Premiere, Select, and Reserve. The Select gets real leather and wood that sets just the right tone. There's plenty of leg and headroom in both the front and the back, and the trunk offers a very healthy 15.4 cu.-ft. of cargo carrying capacity.
Features and equipment
To get to such an attractive price, the entry level Lincoln MKZ does forgo a little in the way of luxury equipment and features, but everything expected is there. Premiere models get leatherette upholstery, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.1-inch LCD instrument cluster, 18-inch alloy wheels, 10-way powered and heated front seats, and an 11-speaker audio system.
