Introducing the New 2019 Lincoln MKZ
The 2019 Lincoln MKZ, four door five passenger luxury car, has undergone some of the biggest changes since it was first introduced in 2017, including new standard active safety features. The model line-up will also be simplified; combining many popular features into fewer trim levels, with the names MKZ (for the base model), Reserve I and Reserve II. All-wheel drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring is available on every trim.
For 2019, all three Lincoln MKZ trim levels will be outfitted with Co-Pilot360, a suite of active safety technologies that include auto emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability, auto high beams and a backup camera. Rain-sensing wipers are now standard across the range.
Under the hood, the base engine will continue to be a DOHC 2.0 L GTDI engine fitted with variable camshaft timing and an advanced twin-scroll turbocharger. The 2.0 L GTDI engine develops 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft or torque.
The Lincoln MKZ Reserve II can be ordered with the Lincoln-exclusive 3.0 L GTDI V6 twin-turbocharged engine that produces 400 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired with an intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
The available 2019 Lincoln MKZ Adaptive Suspension system utilizes an available suite of sensors to monitor and adjust the suspension settings automatically for optimal ride comfort and responsiveness. In addition, the driver can select from one of three operating modes – Comfort, Normal, or Sport – to match the intended driving experience.
Active Noise Control
Active Noise Control creates a more pleasant cabin environment by reducing unwanted noise while enhancing those sounds that are desired. Microphones monitor the sound profile inside the cabin, which is then electronically inverted by a signal processor to create an exact replica but opposing acoustic wave. When the waves meet they cancel each other out, much as tossing two stones in a pond will cause the ripples to disappear when they meet.
Retractable Panoramic Glass Roof
The fully-retractable panoramic glass roof, the largest among all available sedans, opens the single pane of glass rewards with just the touch of a button.
Safety and Security
In addition to the standard Lincoln Co-Pilot360 suite of active safety features choosing the MKZ Reserve I adds adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability. The Lincoln MKZ is also an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick. According to IIHS, to qualify as a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must earn good ratings in five crashworthiness tests - small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints - as well as a basic rating for front crash prevention. Also, IIHS says, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the five crashworthiness tests and an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.
