Introducing the new 2019 Lincoln MKC
The 2019 Lincoln MKC is the entry-level utility vehicle, and the 2019 model year sees the compact crossover getting a mid-cycle refresh. If you’re in the market for a luxury compact crossover but want something a little different, this could be just what you’re looking for.
Although the Lincoln MKC is quite obviously a luxury compact crossover, it's without doubt one of very few that is instantly recognizable and won’t be confused with a model from any other brand. Without doing anything too radical the designers at Lincoln have managed to craft a front fascia for this one that is modern, stylish, fresh and just a little unique. It's not quite as distinct as some of its siblings elsewhere in the range, and it's adopted a touch of German-inspired styling nobody is going to complain about. It's not a huge move away from last year's model by any means, but there's certainly been enough done to the Lincoln MKC this year to mark it out from the 2018 model and appeal to an even wider potential audience.
Engines and performance
Just as the finest, high-quality stereo systems have massively powerful amplifiers so they are not being pushed when listened to at low volumes, luxury vehicles need a good amount of available power so they are smooth and untroubled at cruising speed and slower. The base engine here is a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out a very reasonable 240 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. If that's not enough for your liking, there's also the optional 2.3-liter version delivering a very impressive 285 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. The base engine is more than adequate, but if you want all-wheel drive it will mean upgrading to the 2.3. That's not an issue though because it also means a 0-60 mph time of less than 7 seconds. In all configurations, the Lincoln MKC is also capable of towing up to 3,000 pounds.
If you’re considering a Lincoln MKC, you should take the time to look at and sit inside the 2019 Lincoln MKC. It punches well above its weight in terms of comfort, quality and style inside the cabin. The interior was already impressive, but this year's update really is an upgrade with even better materials before that leave onlookers in no doubt whatsoever about this being a true luxury model. The synthetic leather and cloth upholstery of the base model is subtle and high-quality to the touch and is a great starting point for a lineup that just gets better and better.
Trims and features
There are currently four trim levels of Lincoln MKC. All models feature a rolling Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and even entry models come with 18-inch wheels, a nine-speaker audio system and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Ford’s latest Sync 3 infotainment system.
